Good Centrifuge PracticeIt is important to take good care of your centrifuge in order to ensure optimum performance. Below are several steps that users can follow to prevent faults occurring: - Always run the centrifuge with a full complement of buckets.
- Distribute the load evenly around the rotor. The margin of error is approximately 2g.
- To prevent corrosion, ensure that buckets are clean and dry.
- Ensure that bucket and windshield lids are secured (never run a windshielded rotor without a lid).
- Remove any broken tubes from the bowl.
- Refrigerated centrifuges should be left with the lid open after use to allow any ice to defrost.
- All centrifuges should be decontaminated before service or repair.
- Ensure that decontamination is compliant with COSHH and the 2006 Biocidal Products Directive.
- Only a qualified engineer should repair any of our laboratory equipment. Do not attempt to repair it yourself.
